Lavender (High Altitude) Essential Oil
Botanical Name: Lavandula Angustifolia
Size: 10ml
Weight: 45g
Lavandula Angustifolia is native to the Mediterranean, and cultivated worldwide. It is an evergreen perennial shrub commonly known as Lavender growing up to 2 meters tall. The flowers are produced on leafless stems and lavender coloured. The leaves are narrow and green. Lavender has traditionally been used as an ornamental plant, much used in the perfume industry, and to a lesser degree used as a herb in French cuisine, and for its medicinal and relaxing properties. Lavender growing above 1500 meters is considered to produce the finest quality Lavender oil. The most popular essential oil and the one that just about everybody instantly recognises by the delightful floral aroma it exudes. The fine aromatic smell is found in all parts of the shrub, but the essential oil is only produced from the flowers and flower-stalks.
Lavender essential oil is soothing and balancing, it is the first recourse of the aromatherapist. Strongly antiseptic but gentle to the skin, lavender is useful for the treatment of 'everyday' injuries.
It is principally the esters that Lavender oil owes its delicate perfume. In the oil there are two esters which practically control the odour. Of these the principal is linalyl acetate, the second is linalyl butyrate.
Angustifolium varieties contain between 35% and 55% of the prized linalyl acetate.
We sell 3 varieties of the Angustifolium variety.
Lavender BP contains up to 39% linalyl acetate.
Lavender 40/42% contains up to 42% linalyl acetate hence the name.
And we sell Lavender High Altitude - this grows at 1500 metres above sea level and produces up to 55% linalyl acetate.
